Yay, I have finally finished my long running and very anticipated project of making almost life size baby orangutan! I couldn't help myself but feeling guilty with not working on it as much as I wanted to as I had all the custom orders to complete in between, so Ida's birth was a long and hard process, but very rewarding at the end, right? I absolutely adore her and she is quite a special work for me. Firstly she is the biggest needle felted sculpture I've made, secondly I've tried to implement some techniques the teddy bear makers use in their art, the arms can move and the body has got some weight in it (normally felted items are very light as raw wool is a very light material). So I personally consider my Ida as a next step in mastering my skills (sounds big, but hey, that's how it feels).
I took a photo of all the materials I've used in her making (except the metal granules to ass some weight) and of course got carried away with taking a lots of photos of Ida and props even my cat took part in the photo session as well as my good little friend Elizabeth. Another friend of mine took some professional portrait photos of us as I wanted to make this moment special.
